Project ‘Working Together Day Celebrating our Diversity’. This project gave the opportunity for both children and parents to work together. Not only did they share and explore ideas together but also learned new skills i.e. drawing, painting and sewing.
Parents came together in an informal group to learn about the project. The aim was to make a large quilt depicting illustrations which recorded something ‘meaningful’ to the family or child. These illustrations would be done at home with the parent/s during the half term and brought back to school when school resumed. From here, a few workshops were set up, where the parents were each given one of the illustrations. This would be transformed into a quilt ‘tile’ using material and appliqué method, to secure the designs.
The quilt was displayed in the newly built ‘Hub’ in Stonebridge.
